Summary
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of human resources functions at Mount Kato. This position plays a key role in developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and programs to support the resort’s mission, vision, and goals. The HR Manager will focus on creating a positive and productive work environment, fostering employee engagement, ensuring legal compliance, and supporting the recruitment, development, and retention of a diverse workforce. This role requires a strong understanding of the unique needs of a seasonal business in the ski industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition and Retention:

Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates for both year-round and seasonal positions.

Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and hiring.

Coordinate and conduct new employee onboarding and orientation programs.

Develop and implement employee retention strategies to minimize turnover, particularly among seasonal staff.

Manage employee housing programs, ensuring fair allocation, compliance, and a positive living experience.

Employee Relations and Engagement:

Serve as a point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to both employees and supervisors.

Mediate employee disputes and resolve conflicts in a fair and timely manner.

Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive work environment, boost morale, and promote a strong company culture.

Organize employee events, recognition programs, and other activities to enhance employee satisfaction.

HR Policy and Compliance:

Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including but not limited to:

Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and work closely with the Safety Officer to promote a safe work environment.

Manage employee records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and security.

Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks.

Training and Development:

Identify training needs and develop and deliver training programs for employees and supervisors on various HR-related topics, including:

Onboarding and orientation

Performance management

Diversity, equity, and inclusion

Safety and compliance
-
Customer service
-
Facilitate employee development and performance management processes.

Compensation and Benefits:
-
Administer employee compensation and benefits programs, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Conduct wage and salary surveys to ensure competitive pay practices.

Manage the performance review process.

Oversee payroll processing in coordination with the finance department.

HRIS Management:

Manage the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring data accuracy, efficiency, and security.

Utilize the HRIS to generate reports, track metrics, and analyze HR data to inform decision-making.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources, with at least 3 years in a management role.

SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification preferred.

Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Experience in a seasonal industry, such as hospitality or tourism, is highly desirable.

Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervises HR staff, including HR Generalists, Recruiters, and/or HR Assistants.
Physical Demands

Ability to work in a standard office environment.

Occasional travel to other resort locations may be required.

May require working extended hours, including evenings and weekends, especially during peak seasons.
