Summary
The Marketing & Public Relations Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive marketing and public relations strategies to enhance Mount Kato’s brand, drive visitation, increase revenue, and cultivate positive relationships with guests, the community, and media. This position oversees all marketing and communication efforts, ensuring a consistent brand message and maximizing the resort’s visibility and reputation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy and Planning:

Develop and execute annual marketing plans and budgets, aligning with the resort’s strategic goals and revenue targets.

Conduct market research and analyze data to identify target audiences, trends, and opportunities for growth.

Oversee the development of marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital, social media, print, broadcast, and on-site promotions.

Manage the resort’s brand identity, ensuring consistent messaging and visual representation across all platforms.

Collaborate with other departments, including sales, guest services, and mountain operations, to develop integrated marketing initiatives.

Digital Marketing and Social Media:

Develop and manage the resort’s digital marketing strategy, including website content, email marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), and online advertising.

Oversee the resort’s social media presence, creating engaging content, managing online communities, and monitoring social media trends.

Utilize data analytics to track the effectiveness of digital marketing campaigns and optimize performance.

Stay up-to-date on the latest digital marketing technologies and best practices.

Public Relations and Communications:

Develop and implement public relations strategies to enhance the resort’s reputation, build positive relationships with media outlets, and manage crisis communications.

Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communications materials.

Coordinate media visits, interviews, and press conferences.

Manage the resort’s crisis communications plan and serve as the primary spokesperson during emergencies.

Cultivate relationships with local community organizations, government agencies, and industry partners.

Brand Management and Content Creation:

Ensure that all marketing and communication materials reflect the resort’s brand identity and values.

Oversee the creation of compelling content, including photos, videos, blog posts, and other multimedia assets, for use across all marketing channels.

Manage the resort’s website content and ensure it is up-to-date, user-friendly, and optimized for search engines.

Develop and maintain brand guidelines to ensure consistency in all communications.

Partnerships and Promotions:

Identify and cultivate partnerships with sponsors, tourism organizations, and other businesses to expand the resort’s reach and generate revenue.

Develop and execute promotional events, contests, and other initiatives to drive visitation and engagement.

Manage the resort’s participation in industry trade shows and events.

Budget Management:

Develop and manage the marketing and public relations budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and maximizing return on investment.

Monitor expenses, track campaign performance, and provide regular reports on budget status.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum of 7 years of experience in marketing and public relations, preferably in the tourism, hospitality, or recreation industry.

Proven track record of success in developing and executing effective marketing and PR strategies.

Strong knowledge of digital marketing, social media, and content marketing best practices.

Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.

Ability to build and maintain relationships with media, industry partners, and community stakeholders.

Experience in crisis communications and reputation management.

Strong leadership, management, and team-building skills.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises the Marketing Manager, Communications Manager, and other marketing and PR staff as needed.
